River to the Croix de Marbre.<\/li><li>1860: With the annexation of Nice by France, the promenade was renamed the <strong>Promenade des Anglais<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Late 19th century: The promenade expanded and underwent a transformation with the construction of Belle \u00c9poque luxury hotels.<\/li><li>Around 1930: The current layout began to take shape: a double-lane road, wider sidewalks, and
