Why take a guided tour of Cannes?
Cannes, world-famous for its Film Festival, is brimming with historical and cultural treasures. A guided tour allows you to explore the city in depth, with an expert guide to uncover little-known anecdotes and gain access to iconic sites often overlooked by tourists.
Cannes history and heritage
Cannes has a rich history, marked in particular by the Romans, the monks of Ile Saint-Honorat and figures such as Lord Brougham, who helped popularize the town among the European aristocracy. When you visit Cannes, you’ll discover historic relics such as Le Suquet, the town’s medieval quarter, and the 16th-century church of Notre-Dame d’Espérance. These sites bear witness to Cannes’ evolution from a fishing village to a luxury destination.
A guided tour of Cannes’ must-see attractions
A guided tour of Cannes will allow you to explore iconic sites such as :
- La Croisette, the legendary avenue lined with palm trees, home to prestigious hotels and luxury boutiques.
- The Palais des Festivals, emblematic venue of the Cannes Film Festival.
- The Old Port, offering picturesque views of yachts and fishing boats.
- The Forville market, perfect for discovering Provencal specialties.
By opting for a guided tour, you’re sure not to miss out on any of Cannes’ treasures, while enjoying explanations and stories that make each place even more fascinating.
What are the most emblematic sites to visit on a guided tour of Cannes?
Cannes, a symbol of prestige and glamour, is packed with iconic sites not to be missed on a guided tour. From the golden beaches of the Croisette to the historic charm of Le Suquet, every corner of this Côte d’Azur city tells a fascinating story.
Here’s an overview of the must-see sites.
The Croisette and its luxury hotels
The palm-fringed Avenue de la Croisette is one of the world’s most famous promenades. Almost 3 km long, it runs alongside the Mediterranean Sea, offering breathtaking views of the sandy beaches. The Croisette is home to iconic hotels such as the Carlton, Martinez and Majestic, which have welcomed stars from all over the world, notably during the Cannes Film Festival. It’s the place to be for those who want to discover French luxury while enjoying the beauty of the coastline.
The Palais des Festivals: at the heart of world cinema
The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is undoubtedly Cannes’ most famous building. Built in 1982, it hosts the prestigious Cannes Film Festival every year, attracting celebrities and filmmakers from all over the world. In addition to its famous red carpet and legendary steps, a guided tour will give you the opportunity to learn more about the behind-the-scenes aspects of this major event. The Palais des Festivals also hosts numerous other events throughout the year, reinforcing Cannes’ importance on the international scene.
Le Suquet: Cannes’ historic old quarter
Perched on a hill, Le Suquet is Cannes’ oldest district. Its winding cobbled streets plunge you into a medieval atmosphere, far removed from the glitz and glamour of the Croisette. A visit to this district reveals the 16th-century church of Notre-Dame d’Espérance, as well as the Tour Carrée, the remains of an ancient fortified castle. From the summit of Le Suquet, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole of the Bay of Cannes and its neighboring islands. It’s a must-see if you want to understand the history and evolution of the town.

How do I get around Cannes on foot or by car?
There are several options for discovering Cannes: an immersive walking tour or a more comfortable excursion in a luxury vehicle. Each option offers a unique perspective on this mythical city on the Côte d’Azur. Whether you prefer to stroll along the Croisette or move quickly in an elegant vehicle, the most important thing is to have an experience that lives up to your expectations.
The advantages of a walking tour of the Croisette
Exploring Cannes on foot, particularly along the Croisette, allows you to fully immerse yourself in the city’s glamorous and relaxed atmosphere. As you walk, you can stop at any time to admire the architectural details of the luxury hotels, gaze out over the Mediterranean Sea, or soak up the ambience of the high-end boutiques. A walking tour also provides easy access to charming little streets, local markets and lively squares, while discovering the hidden corners of Cannes that are inaccessible by car. Ideal for those who want to take their time and make the most of every moment.
Explore Cannes in a luxury vehicle for a comfortable experience
If you want to discover Cannes in a more private and comfortable setting, a tour in a luxury vehicle is the perfect option. Aboard an elegant vehicle, you can explore the city’s different districts in absolute comfort, especially on hot summer days. This option allows you to visit more places in less time, while offering panoramic views of iconic sites such as the Croisette, the Palais des Festivals, and the Suquet. With a chauffeur at your disposal, you can focus on the beauty of Cannes without worrying about logistics, while traveling in style.
How long does a visit to Cannes last?
The duration of a guided tour of Cannes depends on the itinerary chosen and your areas of interest. In general, walking tours can last between 1h30 and 3 hours, covering the main sites such as the Croisette, the Palais des Festivals and the Suquet. For a more complete experience, including longer stops or the discovery of lesser-known places, half-day or full-day tours are also available. With a private tour, you can adjust the duration according to your wishes and availability.
Can people with reduced mobility visit Cannes?
Yes, Cannes is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Many tourist sites, including the Croisette, the Palais des Festivals and several beaches, are wheelchair-accessible.
